HAPPY NEW YEAR!!...20 days later...

Hey guys! WOW it has been over 2 months since our last update...oops! I am striving to get better at updating more often! The next update will be up one month from now FOR SURE :]

Well, a lot has happened since November, that's for sure! In the last post I told you I had gotten a job at a grocery store – well, I quit that job just before Christmas. It worked perfectly for us while I was in school, however, once I finished the semester they were still giving me a max of 14 hours per week and did not want to give me time off for the holidays. We thought about it a lot and decided that I would quit.
We went to Steve's parents' house for Christmas and got to hang out with family and friends that we haven't seen in a while - we definitely had a blast while we were there! Oh man, we had some pretty amazing food, too...maybe a little too much! Then we went to my uncle's house and spent time with my family for New Year's, which was really fun.
The DTS that Steve has been working with has left for Indonesia this morning, so when we got home Steve met with the YWAM Vancouver director to discuss what he will be doing now. Even before Steve moved to Vancouver he felt that the Lord was telling him to take a "behind the scenes" position with YWAM to simply serve in whatever way he can, and that is still what the Lord has been saying. So Steve offered to do primarily logistical/office work, as well as anything else that the leadership team didn't have much time for. It is interesting how this has worked out, as we did not even know that that is exactly the position they were hoping someone would fill!
As for me, I am not going to school this semester because I have already taken all the courses I needed, so I have been looking for a job (and loathing it). One day I sarcastically asked God,
"God, why can't I just know someone who is hiring?? I really don't like job hunting..." And wouldn't you know it, a few days later my old bible study group leader (from when I was in high school) sent me a message on Facebook saying that the medical office she manages is hiring for a temporary position! How convenient :] I had an interview early this afternoon and got the job!
We have also been working on Steve's permanent residence stuff (which, by the way, we can now afford...yay!!). It turns out that the criminal record search takes up to 3 months to get back, so we haven't finished with the application just yet. But hopefully it won't actually take an entire 3 months to get back to us and we'll be able to mail the application out soon! Please pray that everything goes smoothly and that Steve's application will be approved without any problems.

In regards to Steve's health, he is doing MUCH better than he was before, thank God! He heard of a certain seed, called psyllium seed husk (ground psyllium seed), which is used to help with digestion. He decided to give it a try and found that it works very well for him! He now has MUCH more energy than he did before and doesn't feel sick nearly as often. He still has some bad days, but overall he is doing much much better, so THANK YOU for praying for him!!
And now let’s move on to the exciting news! In the last post we asked you guys to pray with us as we sought the Lord about whether or not we should go on a mission trip this summer. Well, after giving this about 2 months of thought and prayer, we have decided that the timing is good, as I am not yet in the nursing program, so we're going! Of course there are other details, like finances, which come into play, but we are not worried about that at all; we know that God will take us where He wants us to be if we're following His guidance.
This is not going to be the “typical” mission trip, but rather a scouting trip; our plan is to go and see what the needs are, how the culture works, etc. and figure out what it is that we should be working towards for the future when we will be working there long-term. We also want to make contacts and meet with people who are already working and living in Thailand. We only just made this decision a few days ago, so now we are working on the details of the trip, such as which cities to visit, how long we will stay and who we will partner with while we are there. We are hoping to have at least the beginning of a concrete plan formed in the next 2 weeks, so within one month (when I WILL post the next update :] ) we should have most of the details worked out. Please be praying that the Lord gives us wisdom as we plan this trip and that we will continue to be open to whatever He has in mind.
